About the Event

Come join us for and fun and thought-provoking Communities for Creatures morning at the Moorooka Clubhouse!

Nature Forum

Hear from local experts on what we must do to halt the extinction crisis, and to protect nature for generations to come. (Speakers below - its a fabulous line up!)

Nature based activities

Bring the kids along too, to join in a range of free and fun interactive stuff. Craft, banner painting and face painting and more - fun for all the family! They can learn about protecting our precious species too.

The Green on the Bean Cafe will be open early, serving cold drinks and hot coffees. We will also provide finger food for folks attending.

Please just RSVP -->www.queenslandconservation.org.au/nature_forum

Why our community Cares about Creatures?:

Our federal nature laws are broken and each year more than 300,000 hectares of habitat is lost in Queensland.

We now have a once in a generation opportunity to push for strong federal nature laws that protect and restore nature, rather than allow for continual biodiversity decline. Right now, reforms of the Environmental Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Act are being drafted and the government needs to hear loud and clear that the community wants strong laws for our iconic creatures.

Join us as we explore what is needed from these reforms and the science behind the new legislation. The nature forum will feature leading academics and advocates. Along with a range of activities for the whole family including creating a banner that will be delivered to a federal MP.

Immersive Art Space:

A range of nature based activities involving the animals we all love and want to see protected! Facilitated by guest artist Sue Loveday.

Sue is a visual artist who believes in the power of gathering to create and share stories.

‘Together we can grow an understanding that the creatures and their homes are an important part of us'

Activities include:

  • Animation
  • Banner painting
  • Face & animal tattoo paint
  • Nature craft
  • Games & storytelling

FREE finger food and hot and cold drinks available to purchase at the cafe
